The Lima TB Hospital opened it's doors on April 5, 1911 to help control the spread of Tuberculosis. It was originally called the District Tuberculosis Hospital and only held 25 beds but by the end had 158 beds through various expansions. The hospital was built off the grid, isolated from other hospital buildings to lessen the chance of spreading. The facility was one of the 1st of its kind and admitted patients from the age of 7 to 70 they had an average stay of 3 to 5 years. In 1960 the hospital was renamed the Ottawa Valley hospital. The hospital started to become out of date during the start of the 1970s, the building was still used to house its final patients till 1973, when the very last patient was released the building finally closed October 1973. It was estimated that throughout that the hospital would have at least 3,000 people died from TB while checked in. The hospital is said to be very haunted.
