Chippewa Lake Amusement Park is located in Medina County on the side Chippewa Lake. The park first opened up in 1878. The “park” at the time only had two rides, a single passenger roller coaster and a steamboat ride. The coaster was so primitive and after each ride workers had to push the car back to the top again. Even though the park just started to grow the owner at the time (Edward Andrews) lost interest in the park and the place began to crumble. The park was then taken over by Mac Beach in 1898 who brought more rides including a carousel and a major craze. He was mostly remembered for outlawing liquor at the park. Mac owned the park for about 20 years until he handed down the ownership to his son Parker. He ended up leasing the park in 1936 and bought it at an auction the following year for $3,500. Along with all of the things that came with the park they also got $300,000 of debts from the last owner. Despite all of the conflict going on Mac somehow kept the park running. The park ended up closing in 1978 and plans for a hotel resort are to come int the near future.
